A Good day for some Rootbeer

Meet the new eq-kid... Rootbeer. A super-duper kids pony.

Posting by Blackberry

Not something I wanted to do. And not sure if it will work. But I have to tell you guys about what happened tonight!

I went to bring Cessa & Voodoo in from the pasture but when I got to the gate I couldn't see them anywhere. I whistled for them hoping to see a dark head pop up.
Nothing.
Thoughts chased each other through my mind 'did they get out?' 'I hope not, its getting dark' 'Oh maybe they're in the one little row of trees by the neighbours field?'. In the spit second it took to realize that they were, hopefully, between the trees & the neighbours fence I whistled a second time.
I heard them before I saw them... thundering hooves. And as I watched the trees I saw them come.
Voodoo in the lead, running flat out, with Cessa loping casually behind.
I held my ground by the gate and he ran to less than 50 feet from me where he slowed to a trot and then stopped dead in front of me and lowered his head.
Now he's come when I whistled before but never when he couldn't see me. And never quite like this.
It gave me chills I tell ya!

ps - really hoping I have internet hooked up soon!

A very brief note...

Hey Shirley, I have a temporary e-mail set up so if you could e-mail your info to: cdncowgirl@gmail.com I will forward it to CSNstores so you can claim your gift card. :)

To everyone else - I have SO much to share, but I am borrowing a friends computer so I was just sneaking this quick post in :) Hopefully I will have internet mid-week tomorrow! Who would have thought a shelterbelt (trees) would make getting internet such a pain in the @$$ lol

Lessons from a Dog

I saved this clipping from a January 26, 2005 newspaper. It was published in Annie's Mailbox, with the note *author unknown*

If a dog was your teacher, you'd learn stuff like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

When its in your best interest, practise obedience.

Let others know when they've invaded your territory.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On hot days, drink lots of water, and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around, and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.

Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

While I'm moving...

Thought I'd post this and hope that y'all would get a giggle or two:

Bad Day at Hallmark

Ever wonder what happens when Hallmark writers

are having a bad day??

Heard your wife left you,

How upset you must be.

But don't fret about it...

She moved in with me.

Looking back over the years

that we've been together,

I can't help but wonder...

"What the hell was I thinking?"

Congratulations on your wedding day!

Too bad no one likes your husband.

How could two people as beautiful as you

Have such an ugly baby?

I've always wanted to have

someone to hold,

someone to love,

After having met you...

I've changed my mind.

As the days go by, I think of how lucky I am...

That you're not here to ruin it for me.

Congratulations on your promotion.

Before you go...

Would you like to take this knife out of my back?

You'll probably need it again.

Happy birthday! You look great for your age.

Almost lifelike!

When we were together,

you always said you'd die for me.

Now that we've broken up,

I think its time you kept your promise.

We have been friends for a very long time...

let's say we stop?

I'm so miserable without you

Its almost like you're here.

Your friends and I wanted to do

something special for your birthday.

So we're having you put to sleep.

Is it Contest Season?!

Sure seems that way... and a popular one seems to be the gift cards from CSN Stores. And whattaya know, I was offered a chance to participate! So of course I had to sneak online one more quick time to fill you in.
My choice was to do a review on a product or to give y'all a chance to win a gift card, of course I chose you guys! So hang on and at the end of the post is a contest... now to think of a contest while I ramble away ;)
I will totally admit that when I first got the e-mail I put it aside. I myself hadn't heard of CSN so I wasn't sure if it was legit. Add on the packing (and packing and more packing and stress) of moving and I just didn't have time to look into it.
Well the other day I stole a few moments of computer time and was catching up on e-mail, and there was that CSN one. So I checked it out and man oh man is there a lot of stuff! I made mental notes of some things that I want for the new place. Almost anything for house, yard and critters. Okay so they need a horse area but there is a spot for dog and cat items, and what horse person doesn't have a dog, a cat or both?
I have to say I was drooling over the lighting. Something I never thought I'd say!
(then again I never thought I'd suggest pots & pans as a gift for myself either lol)
But our new place is quite a lot darker inside due to smaller windows and lots of trees.
Track lighting seems to be leading the way for improving the basement. Did that make you cringe? When I think track lighting I used to think "ugly, old, outdated" but not after seeing some of the gorgeous fixtures at CSN. They've got a huge selection from classic to funky and more in between. Once I get settled in after the move I'll be spending some time narrowing it down to a couple I really like then I'll let Pie have his say. ;)
While I have him looking at lighting I'll get him to peek at the pet supplies and the fire pits and the porch swings... oh yeah and they have those pots & pans I want too. Really with 200+ stores we could do a lot of shopping online to dress up our little ranch :)

Okay folks here's the deal... for a chance to win a $40 gift certificate* good for any of the 200+ CSN Stores give your best guess at answering this:

Pie & I are adding at least one new critter when we move. We have talked about a few different options, both in RL, via blog and e-mail, so there is more than one "correct" answer. Tell me in the comments section what do you think the new addition will be?!
The contest will close at 11:59pm this coming Wednesday, June 2/10. I am hoping to have my internet hooked up and working by Wed. afternoon but to play it safe the winner will be chosen at random and announced Friday, June 4/10.

*just a note that there may be shipping fees or international charges. Something to keep in mind for the winner when they go shopping.

And now I'm off to yet more packing...

Stealing a moment

To let y'all know a few things before I go MIA.
Things are ticking along fairly well for The Big Move. Come 9am Monday we'll start moving, whether I'm done packing or not lol.
Seriously though there are a few things that if they don't get packed and moved Monday and Tuesday aren't that big a deal. After all the house isn't even listed for sale yet. We can come back and pick some of it up ourselves. I just want the mover's for the big stuff and the majority of the boxes.
Pie & I will probably not be sleeping at the new place the first night like I'd hoped. We would just have to get up WAY too early to meet the mover's at the city house for day 2 of The Move. That said if things progress faster than expected we may need to change that (but I'm not holding my breath)
I have my new mailing address and for some reason I was able to memorize my new postal code right away (zip code to you Americans). When we moved to the city house it took me FOREVER to remember it... sometimes I still stumble with it. Then today I realized that the new one starts S0L... hmmm, maybe I remember it because of a common abbreviation? lol
Weirdly happy about this - I get to keep my same phone number for our landline!! I've had this number since I was about 13 though so if I'd needed to learn a new one... yikes! ;)
Not sure when I'll have internet again after Monday. I hope it won't be TOO long. In the meantime I've decided to start using my Twitter account again and I've put a widget on the sideroll to show my tweets, which I can do from my bberry. This way if for some reason it is a long wait for internet I can still, sort of, keep in touch.
This is quite possibly the last post from me 'til after we move and I have internet again but I have written a couple posts that should *fingers crossed* autopost for me. I am hoping to squeeze in one more post but I'm waiting on a few details for that.

Wordless Wednesday ~ new trailer!
