Baby pics

I thought I'd share a few pics from this fall when I was 'colt shopping'.  At this time I still wasn't 100% sure what was coming home.  My original "short list" had our two boys that we brought home, Odin (grullo) and Octavius (sorrel) but there was also a liver chestnut and two bays.   I don't know why but I love a 'plain' little bay (funny that I ended up with anything but!)
In the end it was down to Oscar (liver chestnut) and Odin.  Not sure what it was but that last day I picked Odin.  Kinda funny because he sure wasn't doing anything to try to win me over while Oscar was being very friendly.

They seem so tiny when I look back at those pics and compare them to the ones from the day I brought them home... or what I see when I go out to the pen now lol

This early October day though I made my decision, this is the last time I saw the boys before they came home:

Odin & his mama 10/02/10

Octavius 10/02/10

  1. Awwww!!! Baby pix!!

So, wheres new ones so we can see how big the kids are now too??? ;)

  2. They are so cute when you look back and its always amazing how big (and hairy) they get :)

  3. that would have been a tough one, the sorrel looks pretty nice too. I'm a sucker for unique looking horses so typically I'd pick the grulla. But then again, I'm crazy about bays myself too.... I think you made a good choice!

  4. Aww! Cute babies!

  5. I really like Odin's mama. If he grows up to look like that- wow!

  6. im a sucker for bays too - but I would be swayed by odin and octavius too - "youve crossed to the "color" side - lol

    They are looking very nice!

  7. I was thinking the same thing about Odin's mama. Nice mare.

  8. They are so sweet! Amazing how fast they grow and how we adjust to the changes in them. Precious critters!

  9. Awwww they are so cute! I love looking at babies! (notice how I didn't flat out say "I love baby horses" - I do, just when they are not mine - LOL!)

It will be so cool watching them grow up!

  10. I love watching the babies grow up, especially when they change colors. And their attitudes! our 'baby' Smokey who's going to be - GEEZ!! 2 this year?? - turned a gorgeous smokey black color (lost all her stray gold hairs) and is a hoot to watch around her mentors.
