Baby pics

I thought I'd share a few pics from this fall when I was 'colt shopping'.  At this time I still wasn't 100% sure what was coming home.  My original "short list" had our two boys that we brought home, Odin (grullo) and Octavius (sorrel) but there was also a liver chestnut and two bays.   I don't know why but I love a 'plain' little bay (funny that I ended up with anything but!)
In the end it was down to Oscar (liver chestnut) and Odin.  Not sure what it was but that last day I picked Odin.  Kinda funny because he sure wasn't doing anything to try to win me over while Oscar was being very friendly.

They seem so tiny when I look back at those pics and compare them to the ones from the day I brought them home... or what I see when I go out to the pen now lol

This early October day though I made my decision, this is the last time I saw the boys before they came home:

Odin & his mama 10/02/10

Octavius 10/02/10

  3. that would have been a tough one, the sorrel looks pretty nice too. I'm a sucker for unique looking horses so typically I'd pick the grulla. But then again, I'm crazy about bays myself too.... I think you made a good choice!

  8. Awwww they are so cute! I love looking at babies! (notice how I didn't flat out say "I love baby horses" - I do, just when they are not mine - LOL!)

It will be so cool watching them grow up!

  9. I love watching the babies grow up, especially when they change colors. And their attitudes! our 'baby' Smokey who's going to be - GEEZ!! 2 this year?? - turned a gorgeous smokey black color (lost all her stray gold hairs) and is a hoot to watch around her mentors.
