Oh yeah... that's the stuff

I say that because I realize I have a problem. I am an internet junkie. lol
I was able to stay somewhat connected with my Blackberry (NOT looking forward to that bill!) but its not the same. I missed my blogging, my e-mail jokes, surfing around for info.
But as of today I have internet again!! Thank you Yourlink!
Now to go get my fix... err, umm, I mean to catch up on all the blogs I've missed :)

Tour continued

Our tour goes on with "the good stuff". Pics are in random order (thanks again Blogger lol)

Round pen

"The Barrel Patch" as it has been known. Basically an unfenced arena area. Bordered on two sides by trees, 3rd side leads to the yard & hay field while the 4th side is bordered by our road.

Looking towards the house & barnyard from the back corner of our property. All that grass is pasture (and riding space) In those trees is our home.

One of the corrals, where new best buddies Applejack & Rootbeer stay due to diet restrictions.
(ie fat and founder risk)

The hay shed. There is a row of corrals on each side. At the other end is the shop and the barn.

Miss Cessa in her pen. Voodoo won't share the shelter when it rains so I put her in a seperate pen when they're not in pasture.

Mr boss man, Voodoo (hay shed in background)

The barn!! I've spent a few nights sitting on that bench just being there :)

Welcome to our house!

Pull on into the driveway, park by the garage and we'll take a quick tour.
Or at least the outdoors tour... the house itself is still box central.
We'll start in the back yard (seeing as that's the order Blogger wants us to go lol)
Looking out from the deck we pan the yard, right to left:
Between those trees you can catch a glimpse of the round pen. And yes to the right that is a part of the house.

Between these two trees is my favourite path, the one to the barn yard! :)

And the yard continues...
STILL the back yard, good thing we bought a riding mower!

And the end of the backyard tour, that's the (detached) two car garage to the left.

View of the house from the break in the shelter belt. (House & backyard in front of me, barnyard is behind me)
Front of house.

Barn Kitties!!

The kitties we already have are strictly indoor cats. After Mr. Mouse trying to introduce himself at the bale stack I told Pie that we needed barn kitties asap!
We now have 4 barn cats. The 2nd and 3rd came together, from my stepdad who works at an ethanol plant. The were spending the night at my mom's before being "delivered" so I asked her if she was naming them for me. She said only if I want them named Eth n' Ol. lol So here they are:

Ethel

Olive

Now this wee kitty was the 1st one we got. She's too little to mouse yet but she sure looks like she's stalking something here:

Evie

And kitty #4 we ended up taking in from my friend ZZ (whom we had gotten Evie from) We were only going to have the 3 but the girl that was supposed to take her backed out. And seeing as Evie is pretty young a friend her age might be a good idea (besides you never know how long barn cats will be around) Here she is:

Oleta

Evie, Oleta, Ethel and Olive... sounds like a group of little old ladies! lol

Posting by Blackberry

Not something I wanted to do. And not sure if it will work. But I have to tell you guys about what happened tonight!

I went to bring Cessa & Voodoo in from the pasture but when I got to the gate I couldn't see them anywhere. I whistled for them hoping to see a dark head pop up.
Nothing.
Thoughts chased each other through my mind 'did they get out?' 'I hope not, its getting dark' 'Oh maybe they're in the one little row of trees by the neighbours field?'. In the spit second it took to realize that they were, hopefully, between the trees & the neighbours fence I whistled a second time.
I heard them before I saw them... thundering hooves. And as I watched the trees I saw them come.
Voodoo in the lead, running flat out, with Cessa loping casually behind.
I held my ground by the gate and he ran to less than 50 feet from me where he slowed to a trot and then stopped dead in front of me and lowered his head.
Now he's come when I whistled before but never when he couldn't see me. And never quite like this.
It gave me chills I tell ya!

ps - really hoping I have internet hooked up soon!

A very brief note...

Hey Shirley, I have a temporary e-mail set up so if you could e-mail your info to: cdncowgirl@gmail.com I will forward it to CSNstores so you can claim your gift card. :)

To everyone else - I have SO much to share, but I am borrowing a friends computer so I was just sneaking this quick post in :) Hopefully I will have internet mid-week tomorrow! Who would have thought a shelterbelt (trees) would make getting internet such a pain in the @$$ lol

Lessons from a Dog

I saved this clipping from a January 26, 2005 newspaper. It was published in Annie's Mailbox, with the note *author unknown*

If a dog was your teacher, you'd learn stuff like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

When its in your best interest, practise obedience.

Let others know when they've invaded your territory.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On hot days, drink lots of water, and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around, and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.

Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.
