Let's Celebrate

Woo-hoo Pie is home!! After 15 days in the hospital, and three weeks home sick before that, he is finally feeling MUCH better. I can't put it into words well enough how much all of your thoughts, prayers and words meant to me and to Pie but Thank You all one more time :)
Pie is now on oral antibiotics until the 27th when he goes for more x-rays to make sure that both abcesses healed and are completely gone. Even so he is feeling better than he has in a loooong time.
So there is my #1 reason to celebrate.
Here's the 2nd... this is my 200th blog post! :o
I could have posted a few times this week but I wanted to load this pic -
This little book caught my eye at a sidewalk sale (umm, last weekend oops!) and I grabbed it up. As soon as I saw it I knew that I wanted it for a blog give away. Its got some neat tips, although to be totally honest I don't think all of them would hold up under more experienced or current advice. (I got a few giggles from some of the horse advice) Then I noticed that I had 199 posts. Perfect, I'd use it for a 200th post giveaway!
And then life got in the way and I didn't have time to grab a pic or upload one. To be honest I've barely had time to pop on and check out blogs for the last few days. Getting back into a more normal rhythm has been challenging.
I haven't forgotten my tag from Paint Girl & Laura, I'm going to be getting scrappy in the next few days.
So there we go, Pie is home and my 200th post. Oh! Add a bit of rain (thank goodness) and I'm in a celebratin' mood!

Now to enter the give away and win this neat book you just need to leave a comment and let me know if you ride and what kind of riding you do. If you don't ride then let me know what kind of riding you would like to do if you did ride. Easy enough right??

**edit to add** entries will be accepted until midnite Wednesday (Saskatchewan time)

Congratulations on getting your Pie back on track !!!!!!
I do pray all goes better for you each day.
Congratulations to you on your post and your cool giveaway book .
You really found a goodie :)
What kind of Riding would I do ??
Hmmm at this point I just want to be able to go out each day and ride for the sheer pleasure of being one with a horse again and spending a quiet day relaxing with the beauty of nature.
However being the personality I am I would love to be able to trot along or even break into a run and jump again but I am afraid those days are behind me due to health and age,but a gal can dream so dream big :)
Blessings of joy to you and yours.
    Hugs
    Happy Trails

  4. Thank goodness Pie is on the mend! I know he'll be so happy to be home and feeling himself again, and you too.

My riding: Is extreme solitary trail riding. I make it "extreme" by being an anxious rider with many phobias: bears, slipping in mud, getting lost, being shot by a drunk hunter, being struck by lightning, I could go on and on and I usually do. I'm stopping now because I am starting to hyperventilate just thinking about it. My horse John is as steady as any horse I have ever known or heard of, and he thinks I am humorous in my little panic attacks. Thank goodness. Between the 2 of us, he is the adult. That's my story. :)

  5. I am so happy that Pie has gotten to finally come home! 15 days is way too long! I bet he is so excited to be home too!
Congrats on your 200th post! That is very exciting!!
Ok, as you know, I do ride, I ride western and mostly trail ride, with some training in between. I have just recently slipped an english saddle on one of my horses for the first time though! First time for the horse, not me! But it has been a long time since I have ridden english, like 18 years!

  6. Glad I checked on your blog to find good news. Congrats on 200 posts!

I ride - daily when I can, on a western saddle that's as old as I am, trail riding in the mountains and the river bottoms of the most beautiful state in the union.

  7. Welcome home to Pie, its wonderful that he is recovering. And congratulations on 200 posts.
I ride for the love of riding and the love of the horse. I ride to keep my sanity. I ride because I love the sounds, smells, and feel of my horse, and because its the view from the best seat in the house. I ride.... and can't imagine the day when I can no longer ride.

  8. YAYAYAYAY!!!!! Pie his home!!! I am so happy to hear that he is doing better and I hope that everything continues to clear up! I am sure it will be nice to get back to "normal".

    What a cool book!!

As you probably know I have not ridden much at all this year but last year I did a lot of reining lessons. I really miss just riding a horse that I love...that special connection and feeling like "one"...you know? Soon, I hope.

I ride Western, strictly for pleasure, and doing whatever sounds like fun at the time.

  10. Wahoo! That's great news about the Pieman! hehe!
And congrats on your 200th post. You've got good reasons to celebrate!

Riding? Not for a while, but when I did, it was western and trail riding. Sure hope I can be back up there sometime this year.
How 'bout you? You been busy getting some riding in lately?

  11. Woohoo about Pie!!! It's about darn time, right???

I am completely intrigued by your find, so I am entering this contest. Right now I mainly trail ride, but I have done just about every kind of riding at least once over the past 26 years...except saddle seat. :)

  12. Hi Im so glad Pie is getting better, its sure been a long time!
I ride western, mostly on the ranch, but occasionally take in a show or a week trail ride.

  13. Neat book! I think would come in very handy!

Well I western ride. When I can. I am a novice. 52 years old, and able to finally own my own horse 3 years ago! A dream come true for me.

I am not as young as I use to be. Mortality sets in at 40 so it is not like I Hop on and Hop off a horse these days. I am taking it slow, and working with a trainer, and learning how to ride.

My goal is to be able to ride my horse along the Columbia River that has some awesome horse trails. I have not go to do it yet, and I am hoping that this year will be the year I get to ride along that river.

I keep telling myself that Patience is a virtue and that I will be rewarded.

Yes Western riding with my dream horse that is like sitting on a cloud, she is so smooth.

Since she is lazy, I think we are a perfect match cause a "walk in the park" is my goal.

  15. [note: I had to delete this the first time I posted it because I made a mistake!!!]

Thank God Pie is on the road to recovery!! That is fabulous!! Also, congrats on the 200th, and the rain...

    Now, to answer the question:

I ride a Tennessee Walking Horse mare -- Western style, trail riding only. We (my husband and I) ride FAST most of the time...I know we have a dangerous lifestyle, but horses love to run and are built to run. We have friends who never break a trot, which I just cannot understand. We started riding late in life compared to most horse people (in our 40's). I love horse ownership -- and not just the riding -- the caring for them, getting to know them, the smells, the feel...everything!!

Secretly, I would love to try barrel racing!!!
